French I is an entry level class that is designed to develop listening, reading, speaking and comprehension skills in the French language. We will study basic grammar, 3 major verb groups, present and past tense verb usage, as well as basic vocabulary necessary to converse in school, community and travel situations. Our culture studies will include experiencing french foods and cooking methods, studying past and present French art forms, and viewing slides and videos of the french geography, architecture, and people. |

French II is a continuation of developing and enhancing skills learned in French I that include listening, reading, speaking and comprehension skills. We will study advanced grammar, irregular verb forms, verb tenses including the future, the imperfect, the conditional, and the subjunctive. We will continue to build vocabulary skills necessary to converse in a variety of situations appropriate to our studies in French culture. We will also continue our quest for the perfect french food and study the history of France from Gaul to present. We will continue viewing slides and videos of the french geography, architecture and people. |
French III This course will be the continued development of speaking and listening skills needed to meet college standards. We will study advanced grammar and verb tenses. Composition and reading skills will be addressed with simple literature studies. There will also be an emphasis on the culture of French speaking people.

French 1V Emphasis will be on advanced grammar and verb tenses as well as speaking and listening skills needed to be proficient at the college level. Composition and reading skills will be enhanced with literature studies in the areas of short stories and a novel. We will continue our study of French culture through dialogues, skits, plays and videos in the native language.
